Roux Turns Two!

I remember when Bradley came home from getting his Level 1 training certification in Atlanta. We were  in our kitchen and he told me that he needed to make CrossFit his life. My husband is notorious for having grandiose ideas that never come to fruition, but for some reason I believed him this time. It’s hard to believe that it’s been two years since we took a huge leap of faith and opened CrossFit Roux! I was 6 months pregnant and we put it all on the line when Bradley quit his job to devote 100% of his time to making this dream come true. I can’t say the road has been easy, but I can say it’s been worth it! Our members are like family, and every milestone, breakthrough, or PR they experience makes all the blood, sweat and tears worth it! We wanted to do something special to mark the anniversary, so our social committee (we seriously have a social committee) rented a school bus, and we took a field trip to the Abita Brewery. The bus rolled up to the gym… Chuckwagon Charters, of course! Bradley called the bus driver “Chuck” the whole time—I’m sure he LOVED us!  DSC05410DSC05414 Heads up- if you’re going to visit the brewery, don’t arrive too far in advance of your tour because the waiting room is the outdoor patio. We got there about 45 minutes early and hung out outside—there’s nothing like sitting in the heat and humidity to make cold beer taste amazing!   DSC05420 DSC05419Once inside, we were given a cup and a lesson in beer pouring. We had free reign of the beer in their tasting room for an hour before the tour. DSC05425 I tried the macchiato flavor, which tasted exactly like iced coffee! It was yummy, but I’m not sure I could drink more than one. Cheers! DSC05426 We got to learn about how the beer was made from our very enthusiastic tour guide! This girl LOVED everything about Abita and beer! I’m not sure why she was holding a microphone because oh my goodness she had some lungs on her! Kelsey and I became the “woo girls” because we would “woo” after everything she said- ha! DSC05433DSC05429DSC05437We headed to Barley Oak for lunch, which wasn’t much to write home about in terms of their food, but they did have an awesome deck overlooking the lake!  DSC05444 DSC05446 DSC05447 Kristin is here! Do you even lift? DSC05439 DSC05453DSC05455 DSC05461 All in all, it was an awesome day with awesome friends! Happy birthday, Roux!!! Thanks to Janna for all the planning and thanks to Kelsey for cutting all the cheese and fruit! You guys are awesome!
